Kim’s Chocolates
Engineering, design and installation of a chocolate piping system for receiving and feeding liquid chocolate to production machines.
When designing the system in consultation with experts at Kim’s Chocolates, we gave priority to producing a flexible system that was future proof. The system has the flexibility needed to meet future demand for new types of chocolate and at the same time will be able to keep pace with any new developments like traceability and contamination in BRC, IFS, HACCP and other standards and regulations.
The system is unique in that it features a fully automatic PIG system for both feeding and conveying lines. The 28 storage tanks have capacities varying from 12 metric tons to 30 metric tons and are divided into seven groups. These groups are supplied with chocolate by seven feed lines. A specially designed distribution station at the end of the feed line distributes the product to the storage tanks. When a tank has been filled, the line is cleaned automatically by the PIG system ready to receive a new batch of chocolate. In consultation with the experts at Kim’s Chocolates, various double-jacket transport pipes were installed leading from the 28 storage tanks. Some of these were also fitted with the PIG cleaning system.
Three of these transport pipes were designed in a way that we can supply users with chocolate coming from sixteen storage tanks.
